A growing construction company in the Howard County, MD area seeks a qualified Staff Accountant
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals, adjustments, and report preparation.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and internal analyses.
- Maintain and update general ledger accounts in accordance with GAAP standards.
- Review invoices, expenses, and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.
- Assist with audits by preparing schedules, pulling documentation, and responding to auditor requests.
- Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies, trends, or opportunities for process improvement.
- Maintain organized and accurate financial files, reports, and documentation.
- Collaborate with finance and operations teams to resolve accounting issues.
- Support implementation and optimization of accounting software or workflow tools.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 1-3 years of accounting experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, v-lookup, formulas).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
